Knowing Yatai

Yatai

Yatai are stalls that usually indulge in the spring on the edge - the edge of the road. Usually open in the afternoon and closed at night or even usually there until dawn. Yatai are usually open from about 6:00 to about 02:00, except when the weather is very bad. Many stand remains closed on Sundays. Closing days variety from stand to stand

The food they sell is usually a traditional Japanese food, beer and sake. Yatai can be found in almost all areas in Japan, but Fukuoka (Kyushu Island) is the most known for this Yatai. There are more than 150 Yatai in the whole city, with the highest concentration in Nakagawa and Tenjin districts located in central, usually near the eki (subway station).

Usually the food they serve is Yakitori, Oden and Hakata Ramen, which is the food of pride for the people in Fukuoka. A variety of alcoholic beverages are also available, and help make Yatai great place to connect with local residents. There is also only open when matsuri (festival), we can also find Yatai mura (Yatai Village).

Eating at Yatai is a great alternative option than eating in a restaurant, because eating at Yatai are relatively cheaper than eating in restaurants.
Even though cheap, but about the cleanliness is guaranteed, as it has got permission of the city government in Japan.
And also Yatai offers a very different atmosphere when eating in the restaurant, the atmosphere is more relaxed and mingle among the other customers who tired after working all day.
